Jute is a long, soft plant fibre (primarily composed of lignin and cellulose), that is spun into coarse, strong threads. It is obtained from the plants Corchorus olitorius and Corchorus capsularias. The fibres are processed to make jute yarn which is 100% biodegradable and recyclable.
Unlike synthetic fibres (which are acquired from petroleum and require a complex processing procedure), jute is all the more environmentally safe, and hence must be greatly promoted as an ecologically friendly way to reduce the world’s dependence on synthetic fibres.
